Trying things out: Pika for posts, Micro.blog for notes?

As I often find myself experimenting with various web services and platforms, here’s the latest one: Could I use Pika for these (slightly longer, ‘newsletter worthy’),posts and micro.blog for shorter notes (which get sometimes cross-posted elsewhere online, too)? Would that work? How would that look like?

I suppose you can only know after the experiment has run its course. So, let’s give it a try! From now on:

  • Longer posts and this main site, remain here at juhaliikala.com.
  • Newsletters from the longer posts are also sent from here.
  • Short (micro / note type of) posts can be found from notes.juhaliikala.com.
  • Notes currently run on the mnml-theme by Jim Mitchell, but the next step is to create a custom micro.blog theme that mimics the look and feel of this Pika site.
  • Notes can be followed via RSS or through Fediverse via @juha@juhaliikala.com (search that from Mastodon for instance, and you should see them).

I also checked out Ghost 6.0 this week, but I think I’ll wait a bit before jumping on that ship. Let’s give it some time to mature. Would be neat to see some new themes utilizing the Fediverse related stuff somehow.

So, Pika + Micro.blog it is, for now! 😁
